The Mali Uromastyx is a medium sized lizard which ranges from 12 – 14 inches in length for females and 16 inches in length for males. Their life span varies, but they can live for up to 15 years or more. Malis are often dark in main colouration, with speckles of yellow along their back. While most lizard's scales are rough, Uromastyx have soft scales on both their back and stomachs. The only rough scales are located on the spiny tail. Like most lizards, the small holes in the sides of their heads are ears (LLLReptile and Supply Company Inc, 2010, para. 4).
